I have yet to buy my Wellies. Not that you’d really want to wear knee-high green rubber boots that probably still smell a bit like (_insert select farm animal here_) home or when you’re going out but at least you’d be dry when you arrive. When they say “rain” they mean rain. Buckets of big fat drops. Not a “droplet” in sight. Just soak you to the bone don’t bother with the umbrella because it gets underneath into your face down your shirt and your trousers are clinging to your thighs kind of torrent. For a little bit and then it was over. But not done. Not anywhere near done. I can feel more of this coming all weekend long and there isn’t even a warm bath for crawling into as reward at the end. Yesterday was 8 hours of Histology slides on the computer (yay, JAVA!) which was fantastic because we got to try to cram a week’s worth of microscopy into our brains all in one sitting. Got a little grossed out by a chunk of skin. Odd how sometimes diseased things are no big whoop and then all of a sudden something just jumps out and gags you in the gut. Anyway, yeah. Not sure that I’ll be able to identify all the cell types on sight after just the one day but I’m feeling pretty good about it overall. Particularly after today. Nutrition was feeling like the worlds most painful way to spend two hours of a Friday until STATS. I cannot go on. If this rain doesn’t stop I’m in serious trouble. I don’t even have enough “keep you dry” gear to get me to the store to buy the REAL “Keep you dry & warm” gear I clearly desperately need. Other people actually brought sutff with them. Fleeces and rainslickers and things I’ve never even owned so who knows where to start with what works best. I’ve never been the smartest on the whole buying of a wardrobe for myself anyway. When I look at what I brought with my I just want to shake myself for being so …. shortsighted. Oh well. At least I have fluffy warm pink slippers. I just wish I had some cocoa. P.S. Spent a little bit of time yesterday checking out the pictures posted on other people’s Facebook profiles and am awed by the quality & humour. If I figure out how I’ll steal a link since the pictures I take tell nothing close to that story. In the meantime, I’ll keep taking the odd picture here and there…. 2 Responses to “It rained today”Leave a Reply |

Oh Girl! I totally know what “rainy season” feels like. Get huge thick socks, three raincoats or parkas (coz it takes forever for one to truly dry), boots, boots, boots. Don’t forget your bag, make sure its waterproof also. Get that spray that will protect the stuff you already have. I’ll write again soon. MWAH! PS–I hated histo too. Its all purple and red dots to me.
