Got this quiz from a school chum’s blog. Yay! It’s been awhile since we had a stupid quiz! Unfortunately, this one is broken. It says I’m a popular bitch!? LOL.
What type of girl are you?!! (well - it was a tie for that and hippy - I guess next time I should choose grass over shoes?) Posted in Silly tests | 3 Comments »

| August 30th, 2006 | Sagittarius Horoscope for week of August 31, 2006 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
FreeWillAstrology by Rob Breszny “If you want to upset the law that all crows are black,” wrote William James, “you mustn’t show that no crows are; it is enough if you prove one single crow to be white.” Philosopher Jonathan Zap applies this idea to his ruminations about telepathy. He says that if there is even one irrefutable case in which two minds have communicated with each other at a distance and without the aid of technology, then telepathy must be a fundamental human capacity. I believe this is an important line of thought for you to consider, Sagittarius. Why? Because you’ve entered the Season of the White Crow. My topic du jour for most of this week (I know, I know,… it’s not du jour if it’s for several but I don’t speak French so lay off?) has been the demotion of Pluto. How can you stop being a planet? And what is with the stupid name of our new 12th planet, 2003 UB313? I know, I know… it can’t get a name until it gets an official status as a planet. But do you think they’ll hold a contest? Our vote, as a body of vet students saddened by the demotion of Pluto, is Pluto 2. Either that, or Harpo. I know, I know,… we’ll have to wait & see? Here’s a funny little article if you’re of like mind… |

Actually it might be a flu? All I know is it’s the plague that passed through the entire class and those of us who smugly believed we’d been passed over are feeling it now in the third & fourth weeks. None shall escape. Ugh. That ache that starts in your joints (lymphnodes) and spreads down the appendages? Your sinuses fill up and push outwards all at once? Ooooh. Ugh. And for me, there is an associated mopiness. “I can’t do anything. I don’t want to do anything. I’ll never want to do anything again.” Diana and I are interviewing potential flatmates. May have found a girl. We’ll see. Fingers crossed! Posted in School | 1 Comment »

| August 27th, 2006 | I Love The Chase | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Have a new favorite show! The Chase. It’s awful intricate evening soap drama…. about love and passion in a Vet Hospital! Hollywood may have ignored me but the BBC heard me loud and clear! OK - not clear. I was expecting comedy. But, hey, whatever. In other news, although it’s pretty much another unimpressive conglomerate movie (think “Harold & Maude” meets “Saved!”), “Driving Lessons” has a couple of beautiful shots of Edinburgh that show the city quite well. There are probably others out there but that’s the one Diana helped me drag myself out of bed at 8:30a.m. to catch. Not worth it. To me. Oh well. Have promised Tom to relate some of the many ghost stories but don’t know them yet. Haven’t taken the touristy tours. Will get on it during Fresher’s Week - Sept 12th-ish. Promise promise promise. |

Finished the jar of Nutella tonight. Could cry. Tweaked my back doing yoga today. The teacher uses a very different system than I’ve seen before and she was super ambitious & I am super unflexible. Pain. It was probably good in the long run for me b/c it’ll straighten out the curve in my back? Looking on the bright side. Nutrition became an endless mass of numbers and gibberish sometime yesterday. It was so much worse today. I’m hoping to some day wade my way out of the gunk but right now, it’s all baby steps. The kids in my group are really terrific to me and help simplify, say encouraging words, all that sort of thing. I’m so grateful because learning is harder for me right now than I ever imagined it could be. What happened to the days of hear it once and remember forever? Sigh. Now I listen, talk to teacher, write it all down, stare at the notes, read through the books and want to cry because none of it is sinking in. I’m operating on 2cyllanders, trying to get back what used to be there and am really relying on the possibility that once upon a time I knew this information. Goddess help me with the new material! It’ll have to be common sense all the way. My new flatmate was cracking me up earlier with tales of woe in the life of a three-toed sloth. Did you know they can swim but can’t walk? So if they get swept out of their tree in a rainstorm (monsoon, shall we say?) and get left on a tree in the middle of a field and have eaten through all of its foliage, what do they do? Sit there and sigh and think, “bummer dude. the leaves are gone. i wonder when it’s gonna rain again”? OK - maybe you had to be there. I may not be the smartest woman in my class but I am certainly pushing for dorkiest. And to prove it, here are some photos of our cow class today! (Luckily, the pictures of me were taken on another camera and are only available on Facebook - if that. Haha.) |
