Fri Jan 27, 2006 9:52 AM ET KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysia plans to send two teams of scientists to scour its southern rainforests and track down a huge ape said to have been spotted there, a government official said Friday. “Bigfoot” fever has dominated Malaysian newspaper headlines for several weeks now, with several dramatic sightings of a hairy, gorilla-like creature reported in the thick forest in the southern state of Johor. One local man said he saw a 10-foot (three meter) tall ape standing on two legs beside a river, according to one report. “Yes, the state government has decided to send teams of scientists to try and track it,” said a state official who declined to be named. But he gave no further details. I saw KING KONG. Granted there could be one or several less contre-temps per campaign and thus eliminate that extra hour with no loss to structure or integrity, but otherwise I was remarkably pleasantly surprised. The portrayal of depression era NYC was enthralling, no too strong,… enchanting? And both Naomi Watts and Adrian Brody captured my hearts. However the winning performance was truly Kong’s. Jackson’s tale is of compassion breaking through isolating loneliness, the defeat of majesty (& mystery) by capitalism, and the crushing heartbreak of betrayal. Yes, I bought the friendship & the love. What can I say? Hook, line & sinker, I’m a sucker. Posted in Movies, Random-ness, Science |
