With the Fourth of July rapidly approaching, things patriotic have a particular meaning… My darling friend, Veronique has been undergoing the naturalization process and gave me a "Can You Become A United States’ Citizen?" pop quiz. Which I failed. (Who knew that Maine wasn’t one of the original 13 colonies? How embarassing!)

June 23rd, 2005 “Hairspray Put on Hold”

"New Line Cinema is giving its new film version of Hairspray a major redo, …pushing the start date from this fall to spring 2006." You’re kidding. They’re making a movie of a musical version of a movie? Hollywood. Gotta love it.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)

It’s Feel Gratitude for Your Ex-Lovers, Old Flames, and Divorced Spouses Week. One of the best ways to celebrate is to stop thinking of your old relationships as failures. Instead, regard them as classrooms where you learned valuable lessons about intimacy. Think of them as practice sessions that helped you figure out what you really want a loving bond to be. Acknowledge the fact that even if you believe your former partners did you wrong, they were great teachers. I urge you to send them thank-you notes, or at least honor their memory with silent bursts of gratitude.

June 17th, 2005 why am i here?

we have four earthquakes in a single week (not to mention mudslides earlier this year and fires that will happen at the end of the summer), i get mugged at gun point, i don’t have a car and my job is just a job. i could do what i’m doing anywhere. it’s not that i’m feeling terribly depressed but, why am i here? sigh.
